WHERE ARE YOU?

Qurrathul Ain

It's so hard to breathe,

Sometimes, it's so bad that I feel like,

I'll drown to death.

I'm tired of waiting,

Unable to hold onto anything,

Darkness engulfing from all sides,

Seems like there is no end to this.

The stillest hour of the night had arrived,

The hour just before the dawn,

When the world seems to hold its breath,

I'm holding my breath as well,

for what, exactly?

For the sun to break through,

and fill me with light and happiness.

Wish you would come sooner,

My hope is dwindling,

but where are you?

I'm searching for you in this boundless world,

like searching for a pearl in the abyssal sea.

Nevertheless, I can only keep praying for you to come sooner.

The sense of longing is so palpable in this poem, in your eloquently chosen words. And as you search for a pearl in the abyssmal, the last line speaks of hope that lives within. Beautifully penned dear poet!
