A Girl and Her God: was worship ever enough?

i write gay stuff

They told me they’d love me like a god

Kneel at my altar

Hang me up on their wall

And refuse my every need

They told me they’d worship me

But was worship ever enough?

There's an absolute sameness

Between a girl and her god

Because a girl’s anger is biblical

She would scream her throat raw

Praying to be believed

There is something so holy

In the way she rots

In the way her faith grows teeth and bites

Bites at everything she believes

She bites into God

She bites with all her rage

With her mother’s rage

With her grandmother’s rage

A terrible, hereditary wrath

A domestic anger
