Today's Masterpiece

Destined Perspectives

Yesterday I drew with frustrated unfocused lines.

Found myself painting my life only inside the lines.

Never dreaming to expand the portrait that was mine.

Fearful to mix shades of colors outside of what I knew.

What if I couldn’t create its magic twice?

What if the color could never be replicated?

The unique shade would shrivel up over time.

All of these thoughts swirled inside

while I swirled the pale tinted paint.

Then something snapped inside of me as

I stared at the unfinished portrait.

I saw the lines drawn with fear.

The colors washed out inside those lines.

This wasn’t what a portrait of my life should be.

I started to manically take drops of every color

and mix them all together without hesitation.

Tore up the old canvas while laughter poured out of me.

With a new canvas I took the mixture of paint

and splashed it all over without a care.

When finished I saw a kaleidoscopic

masterpiece that wasn’t meant to be

replicated when tomorrow is a new day.

A new beginning with a new masterpiece.
