All it takes is three words.
It doesn't take that long to ask.
Some people just need to be heard.
Minutes could fly, and hours could pass.
It's not rocket science to make sure someone's alright.
The answer isn't in a textbook.
The answer isn't always "I'm fine".
When you look at how much time it took,
It might be a surprise.
All it took were those three words
To make someone's day.
It doesn't take that long to ask
"Are you okay?"

- Comment from author about the poem: This poem means a lot to me because people just brush off others' feelings so much. They take the little "I'm fine" or "I'll get through it" and they don't bother checking. I wrote this poem today actually, 1-18-2024.
