The Poet's Birthdate

Tom Dylan

Notice of absence from Tom Dylan

.

The great Robbie Burns

the ploughman poet himself

was born on 25th January,

every year I raise a wee dram

of Scottish whisky.

Another of my poetry heroes

and the reason I got into poetry,

the Bard of Salford,

Dr John Cooper Clarke

was also born 25th January.

If you think that is an

astonishing coincidence,

wait until I tell you, that, I myself,

this aspiring poet, was born

about three months later.

Well Happy Birthday to Robbie Burns and John Cooper Clarke, and especially to Tom Dylan 3 months early. 😁👍

Haha!! Thanks, AP. Cooper Clarke is one of my faves and I always celebrate Burns Night but never knew they share the same birthday. Can't believe I've only just found this out. 🙂

They were saving the best for last. 😉👍

Why yes, you an aspiring poet too! 🙂
But not like Burns' phrase of being mouse-like in poetry, as a 'wee timorous beastie!' But mice can be quite feisty I find.
That's about the only line of Burns I know. lol.

        • Tom Dylan

Haha yes, that's it! Wee timorous beastie!! Love it! What about Auld Lang Syne? That's his most famous. Thanks as always for your comments. 🙂

Auld Lang Syne sounds like a bit of French to me. lol. Was I ever any good at languages? heehee.

John Cooper Clarke, I do not know but I’ll raise my glass to Robbie Burns who is definitely worth celebrating. 🍷

            • Tom Dylan

Thanks for your comments, Cassie. Appreciated as always.

So Tom, I know this will take some hard decision making, but stop fishing for an excuse for that second dram on behalf of John Cooper Clarke. Go for it! And while you are there why not a third for introducing me (an ignoramus) to JCC? Well done, Sir!

              • Tom Dylan

I will do plenty of toasting for us all. 🙂 And JCC, a fellow Salford man, is the reason I got into poetry. Thanks for your comments. Really appreciated.
