I Lay Graceless

Edthepoet

I should've laughed
I should've cried
Should've considered
Taking her side

I should've bowed
I should've lied
Should've tasted
A swallowed pride

For all the irony
And Saint Helier
This lamp shade
Is all that remains

For all the sarcasm
And sugar cane
Now our forts
Reduced to remains

Here I lay
In a state of pain
I lay graceless
since she went away
I guess my loss
Is the worlds to gain
As I lay graceless
Here I lay.

I'll never speak
I'll never tell
I'll never leave
Dantes carousel

I'll never dance
I'll never sell
I'll never seek
To break the spell

For all the side eye
And creme brulee
This bottle opener
Is all that remains

For all the put downs
And St tropez
Our empire
Reduced to remains

Here I lay
In a state of pain
I lay graceless
since she went away
I guess my loss
Is the worlds to gain
As I lay graceless
Here I lay.
