Lipstick on a pig

ashx

Lipstick on a pig

How can a world so grand and big,

Yet so cruel and unfair

It feels like living in a constant nightmare

Lipstick on a pig, a desperate disguise,

Covering scars so big in size,

Begging for justice in the cosmic affair,

How much more must one plead and declare?

As i wake, combing through the strands of my hair,

Contemplating a world so grossly unfair.

My body, face, eyes, and nose,

Reflects no standards that society chose.

Concealer attempts to shroud the pain,

So many efforts and trials, yet scars remain.

Woven intricately in the tapestry of my skin.

Blood cleansed, but struggles dwell within.

Dressing up, altering my looks with care

Make up masks the burdens i wear.

Despite the mirror's reflection, I see

Fleeing from a self that won't set me free

Layers of make up, diverse attire,

yet the mirror reveal an unaltered fire,

No matter lipstick, the dress, the pig remains,

A poignant truth that life retains.

No matter how much lipstick you put on a pig,

It's still a pig.

Lipstick on a pig.
