Resisting arrest
Phil is removed from his home
Every year he’s woken up and says
Why can’t you just leave me alone
I was having such a nice dream
A smorgasbord of food to eat
Playing with friends I know
Even new friends to meet
When suddenly I hear them all say
Phil, where you going?
Sorry guys, this happens every year
My one day a year job showing
They think I can predict the weather
Just by seeing my shadow
Who cares about the weather?
I’m just a Groundhog desperado
Maybe I should leave Punxsutawney
Take all my friends too
Cause if you stay here
Next year, they’ll be after you

- Comment from author about the poem: Here in the US, today February 2 is Ground Hog Day, a holiday that really has no importance or meaning and is only a nuisance to the groundhog. It is said that if the groundhog sees his shadow, there will be 6 more weeks of Winter, if he doesn't see his shadow, then we get an early Spring. Yeah right. 🙄

Well ground hog day means it never ends in Europe I've had some days like that for sure, oh A.P you do give me such a chuckle we also have some weirdly wonderful wives tales Italian grannies have all types of tricks. The winter hasn't arrived here not a good sign absolutely adore your groundhog. And may you be very productive in this most wonderfully weird holiday. 😆 Biggest of hugs my dear friend.
You have Groundhog Day in Europe too? There's movie called "Groundhog Day" with Bill Murray in it about a man who is living the same day over and over again and again. 🫂

Where do I find New Melle Bella?
In the beautiful little town of New Melle which consists of one gas station, one bar, a post office and one church. On Feb. 2, 2024, I stood in front of the Post Office and, with eyes watering and itching, nose running and sneezing, I declared that spring has arrived. It's going to be a long year. New Melle is in the great state of Missouri, USA. It is the sister city of Melle, Germany. I don't exactly know what that means, sister city, except we do have a meat market called Bavarian Smoke Haus which I forgot to mention.

Wot or who is a groundhog and how the hell did he end up with a Punxsutawney moniker? Oh I see, it's an American. That explains it all........ Americans are sometimes accused of being ignorant of the rest of the world....well here's one non American helping to even the score.... lol

Are they relying on Phils intuition? or are they pulling him out of his hole?
It's all a stupid publicity stunt that they do every year on February 2, lots of people enjoy the whole thing. Personally, to me it's all a foolish hoax that everyone knows it has no real justification on the weather. And I think they should just leave the Groundhog in his hole to finish his Winter sleep. I mean, in the video, you can tell the Sun hasn't even come up yet, how do they think he'll see his shadow? It's just crazy. Thanks for reading 2781, sorry if it was a waste of your time. 😁
