Comfort In Sadness

FallingAwake2

Frozen in stagnancy,

The steel blanket hovers,

Looming across my sky.

I clutch to this sadness,

Evading the efforts of joy,

Safe here from an inevitable drop…

So familiar,

so predictable,

I gravitate to these grays,

For they’re easy to navigate,

And fail to cut me deeper.

So set to default,

Without the complexities

Of a range of emotions,

Or pressures to sustain them,

I remain putting out the minimum,

Bare…

Maintaining my melancholy,

Finding comfort in sadness.
