This Flashlight

This Flashlight

If I was to write you a poem, I wouldn't stop at one

Because out of all this vastness, I can't shine a flashlight to the Sun

I can't count every single raindrop that falls out of the sky

On a late stormy night In the heat of July

I can't begin to comprehend or understand something so intricate

I can't even slow down, to grasp the concept, it's so delicate

I can't run full speed after this moving train

The whole idea, completely derails every thought in my brain

I can't put words to this cataclysmic explosion, it just came to be

But the acidic erosion is slowly changing me

I want to poetically trace your soul, with every line I write

To write something so deep, that it speaks to you in the dead of night

Something that triggers you down to your core

Something so strong like a drug that makes you feign for more

Something that tiptoes down every inch of your spine

To write something hypnotic between each line

Something that clings you to the ceiling with every word

Something so intense that you can feel what is heard

A poetic ode that hits you just right

I guess I can throw away this flashlight
