The River

YingranZ

Beneath the cloak of winter's grasp, untouched my essence lies,

A river still, beneath the chill, beneath the frosty skies.

Blades rejoice upon my skin, their dance both sharp and keen,

Carving deep with every sweep, a cold, relentless sheen.

Tears and ice, they intertwine, from wounds that grow and spread,

Merging pain with frozen rain, along the path they tread.

To halt their cruel advance, I summon frost's embrace,

A barrier against the scar, a colder, darker place.

This fortress of solitude, my rampart thick and rough,

Keeps the skaters at bay, their glances distant, enough.

In this icy bastion, alone I stand, a river wide,

Hiding scars beneath the stars, in the cold I confide.

Yet hope, like a seed beneath snow, quietly endures,

Waiting for the warmth to come, a balm that reassures.

Scars that once defined me, in warmth's gentle caress, shall fade,

Under spring's tender gaze, anew, my surface remade.

For in the thaw of springtime's touch, my true self shall emerge,

Freed from winter's icy clutch, I'll sing a new dirge.

A river once ensnared by frost, by warmth is reborn,

In the embrace of spring, my essence, no longer forlorn.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now, with newfound vigor, towards the sea I gleefully glide,

Through verdant valleys and meadows wide, in nature’s embrace, I confide.

Joining the sea, I merge with the vast, a journey's end, so sweet,

In the grandeur of the universe, my soul finds its beat.

No longer just a river, but a part of something whole,

My waters mingle with the sea, in harmony, they roll.

From frozen isolation to the universe's embrace,

I flow, a testament to change, in the cosmic dance of grace.

    That was a good read.

All the rivers run into the sea; yet the sea is not full; unto the place from where the rivers came, thither they return again.
