Once I flew from Earth to sky,
My arms were light bright feathers,
I didn’t ask how or why,
I simply had no tethers.
Flying high I couldn’t hear,
Any screaming from my home,
The horror would disappear,
And I was free to roam.
I flew through soft clouds of white,
I touched the heavens with ease,
My joy would light up the night,
As I danced among the trees.
Now my flying days are done,
I don’t recall the cruelty,
If one day I have a son,
I will teach him how to fly.
