In the Narcissism Spell

Serene

Hello, ex-lover, are you fine?

I cherished your wisdom, thinking you are divine.

But it was all your game,

While I supported your passion, you set my future aflame.

I fell for your mind, not your face,

While you craved my body, and left me in empty space.

I cherished your voice, though it silenced mine,

And only sought your hand, neither gifts nor wine.

I yearned for a dance, oh, how love can blind,

As you danced over my trust, stabbing me from behind.

I wished for your presence, every single day,

And you craved my flesh in a lusted way.

I loved your flaws, saw the beauty within,

While you cursed my whole existence, as if I was a sin?

My love for you surpassed your own self-esteem,

While you made me despise my own dream.

I craved your warmth, you left me cold and shaken,

I embraced your silence as well, but you left me heartbroken.

I dreamt of concerts, and you wished for rain,

I dreamed of love's garden, you wished for its bane.

I yearned for a home, you built a prison cell,

While i showed you sunsets, you brought me darkness to dwell.

I saw my world in you, but you had your own,

I gave you roses, you made sure thorns were sown.

I turned your dreams into reality, and you fed my fears,

I showed love's true form, you revealed your narcissism's tears.

I aimed to conquer the world, by your side,

And you let insecurities eat me alive.

But wait, this isn't the end, if I could love a narcissist truly,

Then how much better can I love me?

I stood up strong, and the rain did cease,

Flowers bloomed, my heart found its Peace.

Dreams may delay, but they're not entombed,

I searched for love wrong, in myself it's resumed.

Until I realized the greatest love of all,

Is self-love, staying strong and to stand tall.

I'll write a new chapter, just for me,

And cherish my existence forever till eternity.

"I gave you roses, you made sure thorns were sown" I resonate with this line all too well, Isn't that how it goes.. I'm glad you're able to finally save some roses for yourself! 🥀🌹

My sister married one such person. He took from her the best of her. I know hate is a strong word, so I'll not use it on him. But I'll also not mourn his passing. That type of person is a walking disease. Glad you're happier today. 👍
