Love

Nubianpoet

“Love means never having to say
you are sorry.”
Is this really a true statement?
The answer is, No.
We all do things because of our imperfections that  hurt, and upset one another, but, it’s only loving to say, “I am sorry.”

So many people casually say,
“I love you,” to others, but do they back those words up with ACTION?
The state of Missouri’s motto is, “Show Me.”
So too, to say you love, with no action is, futile.

Any relationship can weather any storm ONLY if we:
Treat others the way we want to be treated,
Place our needs and wants last, instead of first,
Give love instead of always wanting to receive love.

Yes, real love is shared by two people who are willing to, not only forgive, but they also are willing to forget.

Were it not for love, the world would simply be a boring rock of unsmiling faces. Well penned Nubian. πŸ˜ŠπŸ‘

"Show me": what a great motto! I had never heard it before.

I worry about apologizing too readily, about diluting the apology by not questioning with enough rigour whether it is justified, and thereby encouraging the other person to feel mistreated when perhaps they have not been--and about the same happening to me when our places inevitably switch.

Of course, saying one is sorry, is in vain/futile, if not meant & from the heart. Your opinion is well taken. πŸ™πŸΎπŸ’
Keep penning your lovely words, dear sirπŸŒΉπŸ˜‰

It is so fitting to end your poem on the importance of forgetting. I believe I have witnessed the harmful effects of holding grudges. May we all be mindful of the danger of not letting go. Thank you, Nubianpoet.

No, I hadn’t heard of him, but perhaps I should have, as I have just looked him up and discovered that he is a fellow Englishman! I’ve just listened to β€œSay You Won’t Let Go”, which was lovely. Thank you for introducing me to some new music πŸ™‚ Have a nice week.

Jesus said once "Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends."
I'm so glad He backed it up..
