The Divided States of America

Lillian

"I Pledge Allegiance to the Flag"
But these stars and stripes feel more like a trap
"Of the United States of America"
Ha, more like the Divided States of America. Is there really any unity,
in this land of hate and strife?
"And to the Republic for which it stands"
But does it really stand? I see my country in shambles,
our nation falling apart.
"One nation under God"
But our nation is losing God, and it feels more like 50 nations trapped in a cage.
Do we really believe in God,
or is it just empty words in a poem?
"Indivisible"
Ha. More like infinitely divisible.
Democrats, Republicans, they just can't get along.
When will we be unified?
"With Liberty and Justice for All"
But are we really free? And is our justice system really that great?
What about those that are falsely convicted?
What about those that are behind bars
because the government doesn't like them?
Justice for all... I've never heard such bull crap in my life.
More like liberty and justice for the straight white man.
