My Fellow Americans

Thoughtless

My fellow Americans, wrapped in a shroud of ignorance, lost behind jingoism, trapped by the immensity of dreams that are shared by all but found by only a few.
The Star-Spangled Banner waves, most unaware of it's origin or its defamation of Americans left behind.
Some of my fellow Americans want to deport those who were here first before the first foreign foot stepped on this soil.
How odd to see the children of immigrants attacking immigrants.
But soon we shall reap the whirlwind, and not in the expected way.

I believe a better future is ahead, contrary to what this composition of mine says. A little creative destruction is possible and perhaps necessary.

A realistic view of things .

I have to say that I feel every line of this poem in the pit of my stomach. You present a reality that I never thought I would live to see. Perhaps from the ashes, something far better can arise. A good write, my Fellow American!
