Deception

Nubianpoet

Why do I tell you, no, when I mean, yes?
Why do I tell you to leave when I want you to stay?
Why do I laugh in your face when I cry behind closed doors?

Why do I settle for a pat on the back when I want
Your arms to engulf my whole being?
Why do I tell you to stop texting me when my eyes
Light up each time I got a message from you?
Why do I no longer answer your calls when I
Pray that it’s you that’s on the phone.

Why does my mouth tell you I no longer want you
When my mind and heart know I am lying?
I know the reason why. I am still in love with you.
