Green Valentine's Day

They landed in my backyard
on Valentine's Day when I was
baking my delicious heart-shaped
cookies with pink and white frosting
as I looked out the window and saw
them walk to the patio door peeking in
with large and curious eyes and having
bodies of green and very alien as I decided
to open the door and let them in and led
them to my freshly baked and frosted
cookies and steamy coffee which they enjoyed
and wanted more as I offered them happily
reminding me what my mother always said was
to bake extra batches in case neighbors show
up at your door...
