Accidents in unexpected places

Hugh

Concrete bridge over motorway
Always seem to be going nowhere
A single bush blossoms
As others around it lay dormant
A sign on a truck says blind spot take care
But I can't see if its meant for me or not
Blue and white police tape flutters in the air
For an incident passed and the evidence taken away

A dozen traffic cones are tied together with red and white tape
As if to stop them running into the field
An advertising hoarding promises speedy claim resolution
For accidents in unexpected places
A church sign says all life's mysteries will be revealed
Does this include where I left my keys
A man pulls on a green wooden door that refuses to yield
Perhaps that's where the lawnmower is or perhaps an escape

A bar offers bombs and shots for the party people
As bombs and shots are replayed on 24 hr rolling news
A shop advertises its quarterly closing down sale
Where the jaded shop for imaginary bargains
On a telephone line hanging by their laces, a pair of shoes
Again I cant help wondering who they belong to
Empty pavements on driving through villages to places we choose
I cant see the church or the congregation but there's the steeple

A sign that says push is taped to an automatic door

Machines taking days off from the stress of being a slave
Theme park has danger of death signs, keep out
A constant reminder after you have paid
A plastic bag dances in an air-wave
An instant metaphor to reach out and grab
Cars from a funeral party return from the grave
Love and regret from the closest for someone there no more

As you watch life going on around sometimes you cant but help notice all the little odd things that almost make you squint and ask why?

        • orchidee

Someone bizarrely, always used to reply 'Why' to every sentence uttered to him. WHY he did this I will never know! lol.
