Under Springs Success

Hugh

The first flowers approach the sun
For the coming months a riot of colour
And scents blanket the hedgerows

The first summering birds have arrived
The long journey over
Summer days to bring plenty

In the distance
Comes a line of men
Each one afraid of what he may find

Soon the reach you
Mark off your area
And carry you away

Spring had returned
Covering the disturbed ground with flowers
And the songbirds sing their lament
