I keep a love letter close to me
It says many tender things
"holding you close to me"
And happiness and rings
It comes from you within your heart
A million hopes and wishes
Futures to come and days past
And ends with loving kisses
I keep a love letter close to me
I read it, it makes me sigh
It's written for the one you love
And I know it is not I

The ending of this poem was unexpected. It sent a little shiver through my heart. A poignant write poet.
This is a very old poem of mine, from about 30 odd years ago, hence the slightly mawkish sentimentality, but it was as a result of finding said letter at the end of a relationship, so something good came from it
