The Snake

mtrotter1

How dare you betray me

When I have a gentle heart?

Apparently, my words have no heat with you

Because I will never be mean

And I will never be cruel, again;

There was a time when I used to bully people

And my fate almost died,

But now I am aware

Of this tricky world,

For this tricky world

Can turn a unicorn into a snake...

Oh where is the rainbow that once was?

And where is my heart when it's empty?

I can only cry so many tears

For the snake;

And where are poetic words

When I need them?

For there are not enough empty pages

in the world

To make me scream,

And I've come so far

For I am less dramatic

And the sun always shines on me

Go ahead and betray me some more...

I won't feel it, nor see it

For you are far away from me, and so forth

Where is the flower that is gold?

Where is the dignity that persuades me?

For you are the snake, not me

As you slither your way into my heart

I block you out

And then I say goodbye,

Silently...

Silently I cry

You cannot break my heart again

And you will never read my words again,

For you will never be in my life again, ever

Because forever is a long time

And friendships are pretty much out of line

The flower that was once gold

Is gone;

Betrayal is the snake that dies.
