Lost Time

Peyton

I wish we could be young again

young with young worries,

young fears & fantasies

drowning in youth,

we complained,

we cried,

but we were free.

free to walk home from the bus stop after school

have music blaring in our eyes,

but leaving one side free to hear one another.

free to take stupid pictures,

free to act like we despise each other,

free to go on drives with no destination

free to love.

oh to have that back,

we took our youth for granted

let fears sink into our hearts

& now it’s all gone.
