The Romance In Toxicity

mtrotter1

The poet ends, yet the world keeps going

We spin round and round and round

Can we carry on this double life

That wasn't meant for us to live?

Do we live free stupidly?

Or do we take advantage of our souls?

There is a lot of history

With me and you

And I can't define romance

Unless it's in a jar

You whore; why am I this whore

Who's all alone in her feels?

For love is stupid anyway,

Where is my soul when I need it?

Last night was a crash course,

Why did I interrogate the stars?

For the stars are wide in unison

I will not dare to go far,

Oh where is this romantic getaway that

is death?

I write on a piece of paper

The shadow of my fears

But the words never appear;

Am I too horny for a living bird,

Or do I fall in a pit?

For romance sucks anyway

Don't pit my roses against the grain

For I am a grain of salt

Living on an empty counter

With one strand of hope

For my fears are valid, can't you see?

For history repeats itself all the time

And my mother is gone

And I have no one

To tell me that love sucks.
