False Spring

Firefall

You reappeared
Like the first the Spring Day
After a long dark Winter
Unexpected
Yet welcome
Stirring life into my conscious soul

Your smile
Brighter than the morning sun
Shining down on me
Making everything seem
Alive
Warming me

I breathed you in deep
Like fresh air
Filling my lungs
Crisp, clean, delicious
Resurrecting life
Into forgotten memories

You whispered words of love
Like the music of songbirds
A joyous symphony
Full of pulsing energy
Threatening to carry me away

But you were a false Spring
Promises fading
Like breath on the icy winter wind
My hopes and dreams
Once again safely buried
Beneath a blanket of ice and snow

The analogy was a good one and was unexpected despite the title. Nicely done.
