Joseph’s speech at the funeral of his wife of 25 years.

David Wakeling

I will not cry for you, my beloved.
That you might think less of me for it.
Though I have tears beyond counting.
And as the gentle sunlight teases my eye,
I see your face in front of me,
More radiant than the Summer sky.

Oh all the dirt that lies on Earth,
Cannot separate two hearts that love has blessed,
I know, beloved, that I was not good enough for you,
That you deserved a Prince.
But I did love you as a bird loves to sing.

So sleep now , beloved,
And I will dream of you.
I will dream of the day when we are re-united.
And we dance in Heaven’s glow.
