the grave bloomed flowers and the grass is green again

Yassin Tamam

Figs, olives, and the mount of Tor.

Watching lambs fly away and high.

Counting their legs, my white feathered friend.

Doves, as bright as the stars.

Sitting cross legged, with water in my hand.

Flowers blooming upon your dress.

And a halo formed at the back of your head.

Focusing on the clouds and watching an owl.

It’s the night, it’s the morning, I dread.

Forming my breath.

In a pattern far from stress.

Watching the darkness behind my lids.

With celestial bodies that ceased to exist.

Repeating your name.

A mantra for my brain.

To help throw my throes away.

I will be well.

I promise I care.

My bones are away from the worms yet.

Watching you breathe.

Every day of the week.

Help me grow in content.

Helping your hair.

To grow back again.

I’d die just for your misery to find a way to end.

I promised my thoughts.

to never let it rot.

And melt away in the sand.

Happy to be.

Here and near.

From you and your family and friends.

Your beauty lives on, and I will carry on.

In bringing back your glorious days.

Come on and rest.

My god hear my prayer.

I have nothing to offer but I repent again.

Come hold my body.

My dad and Javi.

And find a peaceful bed for Nourhan.

If my mouth ought to speak.

I’d kiss you on your cheek.

And paint your nails pink and red.

So, if your days came to an end.

I will be there counting the minutes I have.

To rejoin you in the castle of the kingdom where you’ll lay your head.

There’s only a part left of me left.

and it shows me that I can try again.

For you, my mother, I try again.
