A Rule Against Cherubic Letters

weltschmerz

Shouldn't allow myself to write poems about it

Because writing poems means the lilac thoughts commit

But I've been eerily haunted by the ghost of cupid

He threatens me with arrows and taunts me to admit

What's the use of boarding a sacred, doomed-to-sink ship?

Can't pretend not to recall last fall and its death grip

So as a rule against cherubic letters and heartbreak

Go back to Loch Ness

Sink beneath cold waters

Blind out the lights and voices

Don't talk to strangers or you might fall in love

Writing it out will help with denial
As a scot I loved the mention of Loch ness
Although that ending seemed a bit dramatic
    It adds to the write
    Thoroughly enjoyed although quite sad
Cupid may be reloading right now
    Glad to discover your writing
