Where's Ruthie?

mtrotter1

Long is the night

And devastating are the hills

I see you dancing in your flowers

I see you dancing in your sleep

Long live the hippie who is very sweet

And meek in your tenderness--

But where is Ruthie in the night?

For she is unspoken...

I welcome that challenge to be afraid

For she is my friend

Behold two hearts unbroken

Two wild poetic leaves in spirit

That have fallen from a distant tree

Where is Ruthie, my love?

Two friends in a childhood dream

Two roses blooming in sudden death;

Two roses in the breath of survival

So where is Ruthie in the night?

Let us drink the poison that is eternal

Human love and human faith collide

Where is Ruthie in my sight?

And here comes the light

In the midst of chaos

For it is now March

And the beat of the drum is done.
