Heartbreak

burniskg2023

The wind skims across the lake,

Creating ripples above.

I hear the sound of a twig break,

as did my love.

The hours we spent together,

Full of fighting and rage.

Things never seemed to get better.

I think it’s time we flip to a new page.

As I walk through the forest,

I remember all the bad times.

The birds sing a chorus,

With the ring of distant wind chimes.
