Broken Memories

Nah Hannah

Broken Memories

Does it tear you apart?

Like it does me?

When you walk down the street

We once walked

Our hands intertwined

The slow-motion of the picturesque views

As we smiled, time flowing perfectly for us

Does it hurt you?

Like it does me?

When you remember

Of all the letters we wrote

The silly, sweet, tearful words

That we constantly exchanged

To remind ourselves of the love

That we wanted to last forever?

So where did it all go?

The perfect we existed in

The rhythmic heartbeat

That existed only for us

The soft wind

That blew only for us

The beautiful rain

Under which we kissed

Now turned cold

Even the sunset

Is a constant tear dropper for me!

Because while it’s magnificent

It now lacks its perfection

It now feels empty

Or maybe that’s just me

My heart’s joy has now been replaced by sorrow

And I have forgotten how to smile

Oh how I long for you

Your soft touch

Your soft whisper

Your fingers in my hair

As I lay across your legs

And we watched the sunset

Talking about how we would always and forever

Even against the odds

Fight to be with each other

So where did the time go?

When perfect existed

When you were not in my dreams

But always in my arms

When your picture

Was never fading

Vivid as the daylight

As my eyes would always be blessed

With the sight of you every morning

Oh how I long for those days

When it was you and I
