A Burning Book

Hugh

What else is there when all else fails
The testament of our love?
Written but not fulfilled
Ah, so there it is
This low song sung so blue
Carried in the air
I hoped it carried to you

Me, why do I continue
I wish that one day
What drives me holds me
This is the moment I look for when all else is lost
When time runs away with the sand
To turn it back
To hold your hand

When did I leave it behind
In corners I remember things
As when anger was an energy
Passion didn't care about tomorrow
Distant memories
Easier than dreams were
Then I forget the written words
Of a book found and lost

And the pages from a burning book
Are torn out
One by one
