Strange Tides

Hugh

The water reaches heaven
A million stars are extinguished
Darkness becomes whole
Light becomes you
The electron ceases to spin
Repentance sails a ship to nowhere
Its tongue searches
Tasting the vacuum for a moment of love
Frightened of the dark
We wait
For the ebbing tide
The light of silence
Dreams and architecture
All this for today
Mingled with strangers
Carried along on a strange tide
