Responsibility

Thoughtless

I heard a noise at my door.

On the step stood a woman, her hand outstretched.

My door closed with thunder, and I walked across the floor.

I ate my usual gruel. Handouts! Bah, my voice echoed from my walls.

I reflected blinding light, and a voice rattled in my mind.

"You rejected the Maid of Heaven. Your fate is sealed."

Now I stare at my self-imposed exile.
