A New Focus

Arielle Rose

“Where am I now?”

The stormy sea began its descent.. a torrent of unsettling emotions taking over.. yet the breeze would beg her to stop and listen.. to feel the calm within the storm..

Its soft, sweet surrender would continue.. lulling her into what seems like a false sense of uncertainty and fear.. yet the cold night beckons to her to be still.

She closes her eyes, her heart racing as her vision begins to very gently come back into focus.. immersing herself in the beauty of her surroundings .. breathing slowly in.. taking a deep breath.. and out..

The intensity begins to lose its grip, its potency wearing thin.

"It is not me that you want.”

She looks out across the distance, her eyes fixed.. yet the thick fog tries still to envelop her.. snaking itself around her body to find a way past her guard and feed off the many mixed emotions. They would circle like buzzards, waiting for a chance to strike.

She looks ahead, her eyes fixed in place “no, not today.”
