Fictional Lies

JosephineAdams

Why am I so attached to something not real?

I've never been this attached to a person.

So why is it something that I can't have?

You're not real,

Stop making my heart hurt.

It's almost over,

This adventure we've been on.

I feel as though I was there.

When really I'm in reality,

With these people who don't care.

I read so that you'd be real.

You feel so real.

I've grown so attached,

It hurts to think this adventure is over.

There is no more.

You aren't real.

I'll never have you for the first time again.

You don't know I exist,

But you've helped me through so much.

You were there when no on else was.

I'm stuck in reality,

Where nothing is magical.

I look around like I'm a kid,

Trying to find the magic in the world.

The magic that you have.

That you have given me.

You've made me realize,

I'm not a kid,

I never will be again.

I'm grown up,

So there is no more magic in the world.

In this world full of horrible people.

This adventure you've taken me on,

It wasn't real.

It was just a book.

And I'll never be a kid anymore.

Where the world is full of possibilities and magic.

Thank you for this adventure.

Thank you for the lies.

You've opened my eyes to the real world.

The cruel world.

But you've also given me magic.

The magic to look at the world differently.

If I had to go back,

I'd tell myself to stop trying g to grow up so fast.
