A woman

S. Gupta

A half-filled dream

Of unfulfilled wishes

Everything given to me by hand

Then taken away

Scrutinized for my every step

While the man is applauded for the trail of broken glass

he leaves behind

The only step they don't yell at me for

Is the one where I step on the glass
