Please let me arrange the flowers for you my love.

David Wakeling

Remember what I said to you all those years ago?
“Let me hold your hand my darling and you can hold onto mine,
Let me walk a pace ahead so you will be safe.
Let us watch with a smile the yellow sun going down,
And please let me arrange the flowers for you when we get home.”

Remember when we traveled to far off lands?
We saw the hanging gardens of Babylon,
The pyramids of Cheops and you rode that pony?
We saw the Acropilis of Rhodes and I stole a kiss.
We saw the Moon over the desert in Cairo,
And you said you loved the way I smiled.

Remember what I promised all those years ago?
“I will find a shelter for you against the raging storm,
Above all I will clear the way that you might not stumble.
I will climb the hills first to find the best view.”
Oh dear there are leaves on your grave.
Let me tidy it for you,
And please let me arrange the flowers for you my love

Are you very old, like Goldfinch and I? Did you see these things when they were originally made/built/formed, etc - as we both did?! lol.

Yes I'm as old as the Hills.Seventy-one I saw all those things when I was married before the cheating.
