Sugar Rush

Chad Carlson

Notice of absence from Chad Carlson
Hey everyone. I'm taking this time to thank everyone that has read my poems, everyone that left comments, taken the time to start a conversation, and Thank you Mason for handing me my first loss in a few years. Like I said you came hard and I respect that.

I'm taking some time to step back and focus on my ever expanding health issues as well as getting into a strong mindset for my upcoming 7th spinal fusion operation. I appreciate you all. This is not goodbye like The Terminator I'll be back... And much like Terminator my spine will be metal.

By Chad Carlson

Mind going crazy
Body kinda shaky
Feeling wide awake
Despite my fatigue
Talking to the trees
Branches blowing in the breeze
They're trying to decieve
They tell me not to breathe
Watch the sun rise
Through bloodshot eyes
Drawing my strength
From the crimson skies
Gaze at all the crows
Flying to and fro
And with a voice that's low
They're telling me to follow
Feeling that I can fly
I decide to try
But it was all a lie
Lucky to be alive
For it seems I have no wings
Too late to realize this
And with a sickening thud
My body gives the ground a kiss
Just know that I will try again
After my body mends
For one day you will find
That I will fly for real
And not just in my mind

(Written sometime in the mid '90s after a 15 hour long D&D campaign and a 12 pack of Jolt Cola. Good, bad? It is what it is)
