My heart is like a dragon:
Ancient and plated in stone.
My spirit is a bold veteran of many bloody battles,
And yet the sweet sorrow of sincere longing
Reveals to me a love most tender and young
Nestled amongst iron crags.
More humbling than the heights of valor,
More lovely than the speckled ring,
More terrible than the somber quietude of death
Is this defiant flame of a simple love that cannot be.
And so it burns, quietly, tearfully, freely, and joyfully.
