When I pause
Working, gathering
Tidying and organizing
Walking from room to room
Fulfilling my list
With the daily dance of routine
But when I pause
I think of things…some sad
Then I remember something else
I walk, gather and prepare
Distracting myself
With domestic activity,
Then
Again I pause
I think of my own loss
Feeling lonely in my quiet moment
But remember my weekend plans
And start to pack
Pushing the sad feelings away,
Keeping busy
Always so much to do
I pause for a cup of tea
The radio on beside me
…Another update on Gaza
I wish I could pause that.

- Comment from author about the poem: Just going about my day, then when pausing I felt thoughts intrude of a sad nature, as they do, when not being distracted by daily activities, work etc. Sometimes those moments are powerful and almost jolt you back into distraction, to avoid pathos. But as we all know much bigger events give much more pause for thought. it wasn't mean't to be a sad poem, melancholy perhaps, but more of a note to self - self balancing scribble, i felt like writing down.
