Walking Forward

Greg M Cole

I don't want to walk backwards through life,
Second guessing what might have been;
What could have been,
What would have been,
What should have been.
Beautiful decisions, half-followed;
Meaningful words, half-said;
Impactful actions, half-done;
Left behind to die.
Time doesn't rewind,
There are no “do overs,”
There are no “takebacks.”
There is only what was,
What is,
And what will be.
And I walk forward.
