Catchin’ fireflies with tails burning bright;
Little voices that echo in the night;
Giggles and screams, rolling in the grass;
Sweet innocence created to last.
Hide ‘n seek – “Ollie, oxen in free!”
Freeze tag – “You’ll never catch me!”
Ridin’ your bike, wind in your hair;
Not worrying about what clothes you wear.
Smiles and laughter, a bright summer face;
Childish wisdom with childish grace,
“Are we there yet?” – showing a toothless grin,
As snow cone juice runs down your chin.
Remember when that was you and me?
Enjoying each day, running wild and free;
But along the way we forgot how;
“Without a care” is just a memory now.

- Comment from author about the poem: This is a poem that I wrote many years ago. Those who are younger may not be able to relate, but we \\\"old timers\\\" can remember when life was much simpler.

Us Baby Boomers remember all too well Greg. That rear view mirror never fails me. Great write and keep that quill wet. 😊👍
