Message in a Bottle

HangingbyaHalo

Shhhhh.

I put your heart to my ear..

Do you hear that…
Nothing..
Yet it’s deafening,
I find it astounding that absence can feel so heavy.
That nothingness can consume you as if you are sheathed in concrete.
No crevice spared in the hardening.
I’ve whispered my secrets in the space between you and I.
I have cried enough tears to form a river for you to reach me,
I have even built you a boat.
Yet I am still here.. Alone.
Still shipwrecked far from the shore.
I am a connoisseur of the depths.
And you,You are afraid of the water.

I can tell you until I’m blue in the face that the water is wonderful.
But you decline to feel the pruning of my fingers on your skin.

I cannot live on the surface and As much as I love the feel of the sand between my toes…
The ocean calls to me.

And I will not diminish; crack and splinter to stay with you on the shore.

So I sent you this message in a bottle,
Hoping it would find its way to you.
Hoping you would read the words and see all the beautiful things that live beneath the surface.
All the wonders,
That you refuse to be submerged in.
