Insect Awakening

Insect Awakening by Cat Rain July 18, 2007

It would be an honor to come back as an insect. The ancient animal
the sustenance for the world with fighters and flowered costumes
of colors and camoflage, with garbage collectors and honey factory
workers in high societies and the solitary bugs. Who are skillful
flyers, tunnel builders. Those that are constructive and those that
are destructive in the struggle for survival. The children of the
Queen and the makers of the new Queen. Let me be among the delicate
wisps of powdered wings, fluttering on top of the currents of air
and buzzing straight ahead to the next destination. Open my eyes to
the flashing light and saturate my nostrils among the sweet pollen
fragrances to present to me a life so short and so full and awake
with wonders and pleasures and a host of tasks to complete burning
hot within me from my mouth to my seat. Small in size, even barely
detectable, carrying an impact so large that all life depends
upon it, the little crawlers of the day, the singers of the night,
the barrowers in the hidden recesses and the navigators of flight.
place me among the ancient animals The dragons, warriors, soldiers,
builders, defenders, preparors, the nurses and the servers, the rulers
and the leaders. Lose me in the multitude and release me into the swarm
that I may again feel alive for the time given, the term alloted to
me so graciously, and allow me to immerse myself into the field of
beings who are my family and willl forever near to me be. I want to fight
to the end to defend my Queen alongside my kind with no fear running
through me as I unleash my sting and unlock my bite. I want to join
for the hibernation, spin my cocoon, make the transition from walker
to flier, perform the migration to the end of our flight. Be with my own
to bask in the sunlight till the end of the day and to sleep in the
night and awaken to the morning sun ray.
