Truth of war

Ethan Mikel StAmour

Ashes succumb from a distant land

Wailing cries were heard over the barren sand

Red dust and ash blowing in the breeze

Buildings topple, nothing but debris

Men fight and scream and yell

Laying in tents bloody and unwell

Men young and old all different ages

Death upon them all because war never changes

Lives were taken no matter who was in the fight

For a long time this land has been plagued with blight

A sad life these wars have brought

Money and power it was all lost

Through the smoke and the fire's rage

Echoes of history page after page

A cycle unbroken a tale so old,

War's bitter story is forever retold.
