Commitment Wall

edemoss

Brick by brick, I've built my wall

The layers surrounding my heart; so tall

Numb to the feeling of being loved,

Numb to the excitement of meeting someone new,

Numb to the hope of no longer feeling blue.

Making excuses for everything,

no changes taken, always running away -

continuously turning possibility into a fling.

A small amount of curiosity, and then the doubts replay.

You're tall enough to peak over,

but soon you will see, you can't break through to me.

You can try to dig under, might see a little ,

but mostly you'll realize my mind is a riddle.

I'll want it at first,

but I will quickly retract -

my mind will pay tricks,

more bricks will start to stack.

It's not you, it's me

I refuse to see, that

sometimes things turn out happily.
