You weren't the one

Mason Vollman

I remember the times we had,

It feels like so long ago.

I remember the joy we shared,

And the love you've shown.

I remember the feeling, it felt so rare,

To share the touch of someone

Who cares.

I remember our happiness, so endless and vast,

In what we both thought would really last.

The dark times went fast,

because we had each others hand.

But as a new day shows up,

 before we knew it.

We're all grown up.

Now I'm just a face in the crowd,

Lost in the dark,

Plain like a cloud.

I lost my sight, I see but I dont.

I think I'm blind.

Elbows glued to my knee.

I think back to then, "was I really trying?"

As I look at you now, you seem to be fine.

You said you loved me, are you caught up in lies?

The pain in my chest, makes me want to run and hide.

I think about you still, don't you think I dont.

It was never meant to be,

But I still feel enthroned.

As I look around, the beauty of the world,

But I'm trapped in darkness,

I'm drowning in tar.

Your always so close, but you feel so far.

Am I being forced to fight this war?

Is there a reason?

To give and to take?

To give one love, but then capture it above?

Is it supposed to help me?

To break my heart?

I'm young and confused,

The pain feels so sharp.

I know it's life, but what's the point?

Keep working my mind,

Until I reach my breakpoint.

So as I ask, what's the reason?

Your breaking me, what is this treason?

I need an answer, Oh, please just one!

I'm simply stunned.

You weren't the one.
