An Ordinary Poem For a Very Special Girl

camille09

She learned her lessons
and never wanted to see him again,
until their paths crossed once more.

Her uniform was green.
A familiar face appeared before her,
and for a moment,
they were weighing the past.
Staring a little too long,
like a spider watching its prey.

That girl cut her hair.

Most people preferred it long
"It makes you prettier," they said.
Yet she was often unfair to herself,
called "Sir" more times than "Ma'am."

Being mistaken felt easier
than believing compliments.

To an ordinary girl
with an extraordinary life,
family, and friends,
she came to realize
that God had made her special in His eyes.

Grateful and chosen to be in this world,
to offer kindness,
to carry strength,
to keep faith,
and to hold on to hope.

  • Comment from author about the poem: This poem is for the girl who learned to let go, learned to forgive, and learned to keep going.\r\nFor the girl who cut her hair, questioned her worth, and sometimes found it easier to hide than to be seen.\r\nMay she never forget that she is loved by God, blessed with wonderful family and friends, and capable of bringing kindness wherever she goes.\r\nAnd may she always choose Hope.
