Let Time Stand Still

A.D. Small

Let Time Stand Still

A girl stands

Against her feelings

Against the wind

And the sparkling rain

She just stands there

Not sure what to do

Or where to go

Or which way is up

She blows loose kisses

And watches them

As they float away

Towards the moon

She knows what they mean

They're full of love

And deep rooted wisdom

And lost embraces

She sends them to the stars

Where they belong

Suspended by space

And beautiful particles

Of a lost life

Her hopes are high

Too high to climb

Because she prays

That one sudden day

They will rain down from Heaven

And fall upon her silky face

Like stardust

Or moon beams

And with every fluttery kiss

she feels her wings

As they grow heavy

With all of the kisses

That were never meant to be

Of stolen moments

And lost sparks

That once burned hot

In the pale dusty moonlight

But if she keeps still

And stays frozen

Inside this suspended moment

And give her time to wait

For each beautiful one to fall
